A historical tour in Nahariya following the historic railway station, a shadoof well, the transit camp, the remains of an Arab village, and a Byzantine church with a mosaic floor. The tour begins at the gates of the railway that once served as a station on the historic line to Beirut, where visitors can feel the pulse of the city’s early days.
From there, participants continue to discover the Antilia Well, an engineering marvel that takes visitors back to the fascinating technology of the Byzantine period.
The route leads to the top of the transit camp, the moving place where the new immigrants who arrived in Nahariya in the early 1950s lived and built their homes. Through the transit camp’s alleyways and the remains of the small Arab village, visitors reach a magnificent Byzantine church hidden surprisingly among the residential buildings, featuring a breathtaking mosaic floor.
The tour then passes by the ancient, sacred tree, which stands as a silent testament to stories and beliefs passed down from generation to generation.
The tour ends back at the railway station, with participants taking away new and moving insights into the city they thought they knew.
