Celebrate the New Orleans of the 1920s
Barrelhouse Jazzband Featuring Caroline Mhlanga (Berlin)
A celebration of swing, groove, and soul - Creole music, blues, and boogie-woogie.
The Barrelhouse Jazzband, one of the most prominent and successful ensembles in the international traditional jazz scene, is the oldest independent jazz band in Europe, continuously active since 1953 without institutional sponsorship.
With performances in 58 countries across five continents and an impressive presence on the world's main stages, the band brings jazz that is alive and breathing — recognizing and respecting its roots, yet sounding entirely here and now. They present a rich selection of classics from classic jazz and blues, New Orleans music, and Creole jazz, along with newer original works — a journey spanning over a hundred years of jazz history.
Their music is expressive and varied, deeply rooted in the authenticity of the blues and spiced with a touch of “show” that makes the experience unforgettable.
Barrelhouse Jazzband takes old jazz, reignites it, and gives it a completely contemporary vibe. Tradition with groove — and eyes forward.
