The legendary Swan Lake, performed by the Russian Ballet company under the direction of Vyacheslav Gordeyev, will be presented to Israeli audiences during the fall 2026 theatre season.

This classical Russian ballet, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s magnificent music and performed by one of the world’s finest ballet companies, has long done more than delight the eye. It also serves as a source of healing for the soul, offering audiences an immersion in a world of beauty and harmony.

The brilliant choreography of Marius Petipa, recreated by Vyacheslav Gordeyev, together with magnificent sets and costumes designed by the talented artists I. Zherdev and T. Tulubyeva, promises to make this production a jewel of the upcoming theatre season.

Swan Lake, perhaps the most famous and beloved ballet, requires no introduction. It has remained on the pedestal of world ballet for more than a century. Tchaikovsky’s musical talent, Marius Petipa’s refined choreography, and the gripping libretto—telling a story of love, fidelity, and the struggle between good and evil—have merged to create a work from which it is impossible to tear oneself away.

Even when familiar with every twist of the plot and every musical number, Swan Lake enchants audiences anew each time.

Staging this ballet is no easy task because of its many characters, and not every choreographer or theatre dares to take it on. For this unique creation of world ballet to shine on stage requires not only talent, but also the high level of skill of the dancers and the choreographer who undertakes such a challenge.

Director Gordeyev handles this great work with sensitivity and precision.

Swan Lake, as staged by the Russian Ballet Theatre, is a large-scale, complete version without cuts. The production holds a special place in the theatre’s repertoire, being its most popular performance among audiences. In November 2012, the Russian Ballet Theatre celebrated its 1,000th performance of Swan Lake.

An outstanding representative of Russian ballet, Vyacheslav Gordeyev is a celebrated dancer and former principal of the Bolshoi Theatre who devoted his entire life to this art. He has also distinguished himself as a talented choreographer.

As a choreographer, Gordeyev earned the respect and affection of critics abroad. In 1992, following the theatre’s successful tour of Europe, he received the Best Choreographer of the Year award, and later was presented with a special prize by Maurice Béjart.

The State Russian Ballet Theatre occupies a distinguished place on the world ballet stage and is highly popular among ballet lovers both in Russia and abroad, alongside such giants as the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres.
