A discussion on lone soldiers’ lives and support in Modi’in takes place on 5 October 2026 at the Dimri 51 Community Room. Speakers include Yosi Shiloni and Neeli Engelhart.
What is it really like to serve in the IDF without your family by your side?
Discover the challenges, experiences and sense of community that shape the lives of lone soldiers living in Modi’in, and hear about the people working to make sure they have a home and support system throughout their service.
At the heart of the evening is Beit Almog Shilony, Modi’in’s dedicated home for lone soldiers, located in the Prachim neighbourhood. The home was founded by Yosi Shiloni in memory of his son, Almog Asael Shilony, who was fatally injured in a terrorist attack.
Hear from Yosi Shiloni, who will share the personal story behind Beit Almog Shilony, its purpose and the support it provides to lone soldiers throughout their service.
He will be joined by Neeli Engelhart, a Modi’in resident, dedicated volunteer and adoptive mother to lone soldiers, who will offer a personal perspective on supporting soldiers far from their own families.
The evening will also aim to include the voice of a lone soldier, offering a firsthand look at life, service and community in Modi’in.
