Bini has waited fifty years for the moment when he could reunite with Ruthie, his childhood sweetheart, and return with her to the neighborhood where they grew up in Dubrovnik, Croatia. When Ruthie is widowed, Bini realizes the moment has arrived. He buys a one-way ticket for two, summons his courage, and comes home intending to tell Naomi, his wife, that he is leaving her.

His pulse rises, the front door swings open, and… Bini finds himself at his and his wife’s golden wedding anniversary celebration, which the family has organized as a surprise. Bini, who has never disappointed his family, smiles from ear to ear and enjoys the blessings, cocktails, and family videos—but deep down, he knows: if he follows his heart, he will shatter the hearts of those who love him.

Past and present intertwine and merge into a wild, funny, and moving family story.
