Liat Banai is an Israeli singer who performs in the Mizrahi style. She began her musical career in 1991, at the age of 16, when she sang in front of an audience for the first time at a Purim party at her school. At that event, she sang the song “Tipat Mazal,” and Avi Bitter, who watched her perform, offered to produce an album for her.
In 1994, she released her debut album, titled “Aba Slicha Ta’iti,” which included a duet with Avi Bitter. A year later, she released her second album and another duet, “Ahava Shelo Nigmeret,” with singer Lior Narkis. In 1996, she released her third album and several additional duets with Avi Bitter and singer Tamir Gal.
The following year, she released her fourth album, followed by a joint album with Avi Bitter featuring eight duets by the two singers. Between 1998 and 2000, she released three more albums, immediately followed by another duet album with Avi Bitter. Two years later, she released another album, and three years after that, in 2006, she released a greatest-hits album featuring her quiet hits from throughout the years. That year, she also released another duet with singer Alon Hasson.
In 2012, she participated in the reality series La La Land. In 2016, she participated in the reality series Imahot. In 2018, she also participated in the fifth season of The Next Star for Eurovision. She withdrew from the program one week after the competition began.
In June 2025, Banai performed for the first time at the Caesarea Amphitheater, singing her hits. At the show, she hosted singers Avi Bitter, Tamir Gal, and Nissim Oz.
