Gil Shohat presents his new series combining the ten sefirot with musical works. The performance focuses on the element of redemption and features rare and excellent performances of Scriabin and Gershwin pieces. The event includes an in-depth analysis of the composition, composer, and cultural context.
The Concept
This new series by creator Gil Shohat constitutes a creation of its own musical world. The ten Sefirot are translated into ten foundations, and the twenty-two letters become twelve tones. Thus, the story is built around the 22 letters that create the world and humanity. Each meeting is dedicated to one (or two) Sefirot, representing a foundation of the world and humanity, linked to one exemplary and significant musical work that Gil Shohat connects to its essence.
The works themselves, along with parallel compositions, are performed at each meeting, featuring in-depth analysis and discussion of the piece, the composer, and its cultural, philosophical, and historical context. The works are projected and heard in exemplary performances, some in rare executions. This is an original and unique musical and intellectual concert season in Kfar Saba!
