Gil Shohat - Recital 3: The Foundation of Faith
The Concept
The foundation of faith creates the Great Mass and Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs). The principle of judgment and justice is expressed in the figure of Tosca. The element of fate is the true cause of Carmen's death.
Creator Gil Shohat’s new series itself constitutes a creation of a musical world—the ten Sefirot translate into ten foundations, and the twenty-two letters become twelve tones. Thus, the story is built—twenty-two letters creating the world and humanity. Each meeting will be dedicated to one (or two) Sefirot that serve as a foundation of the world and humanity, alongside one exemplary and significant musical work that Gil Shohat connects to its essence.
The works themselves, as well as parallel works, are performed at each meeting, featuring in-depth analysis and discussion of the composition, the composer, and its cultural, philosophical, and historical context. The works are projected and heard in exemplary performances, some in rare renditions. A healthy, original, and unique musical and intellectual concert season in Kfar Saba!
