About the Lecture
A comprehensive, rich, moving, and consciousness-expanding lecture about the beautiful poems and tumultuous life story of the poet Tirza Atar.
Using archival materials revealed during the lecture, we will redraw a surprising figure, completely different from the fragile image familiar to the public.
“She was beautiful from every direction you looked at her... even when looking inside,” wrote her friend Dalia Ravikovitch about her. “She was the only person I know who comes close to the definition of an angel,” said her friend Gid’on Shemer about her.
During the lecture, we will delve into the words of her greatest poems and the stories behind them; naturally, we will also explore her deep relationship with her father, the poet Natan Alterman. We will hear rare recordings of her voice and watch performances of her greatest songs.
Dr. Avi Alon is a researcher and lecturer on poetry throughout Israel. He appears on Radio 103fm and on Galatz, discussing the stories behind the greatest songs.
