The meticulous classical aesthetics meet the unique sound of one of the fathers of Israeli rock, resulting in a musical explosion like no other. Maestro Gil Shohat joins singer and songwriter Yehuda Ashdot in a new, one-off production that deconstructs and rebuilds the concept of "music without boundaries."
During this evening, Ashdot's electric guitar and sophisticated sound blend into the rich piano and orchestral texture of Shohat, together breathing new life into the greatest classics of local rock and pop. The program centers on Ashdot's massive hits, ranging from the soothing ballad "Tzilo Shel Yom Kayitz" (Shadow of a Summer Day) to the love anthem "Halaylot Shlanu" (Our Nights).
The audience will hear "Ma Taamiri," the song so closely identified with 1992, alongside "BeKol Pa'am She'ani Mat'ahav (Bech Makhadash)" (Every Time I Fall in Love [With You Again]), which emerged from that legendary performance at the Hard Rock Cafe. Woven into these songs are two immortal masterpieces that serve as pillars in the classical world: Mozart’s Musik für kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music), known for its brilliant lightness and mathematical beauty, and excerpts from Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2—a powerful romantic work requiring supreme pianistic virtuosity.
