No decade demonstrates the connection between technology and music better than the 1980s.
Synthesizers, drum machines, and samplers entered recording studios and turned every possible noise into raw material.
From all this emerged synth-pop, hip-hop, house, and techno—new music that seemed written especially for a changing world. The lecture’s protagonists: Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Prince, Afrika Bambaataa, De La Soul, Yizhar Ashdot, Ofra Haza, and Ethnix.
