Lock Festival: Dreaming of a Reverse World

Chana Azulai-Espari will perform Sholem Agnon's text set to original electronic music. She will be joined by other artists offering their own surrealist interpretations of parables by Agnon, Kafka, and Rabbi Nachman. The evening will conclude with an atmospheric gathering at the old pool of YMKI, inspired by Bialik's poem "Blessing."
“In the prime of her days, my mother died” — so begins Shmuel Yosef Agnon’s immortal work, which recounts the coming-of-age story of Tirtza, moving between her mother’s unresolved past and her own quest for love.
Actress Hanna Azoulay-Haspi will perform the text accompanied by original electronic music composed by her son, Avshalom Haspi. Following this, other actors will take the stage to present an original interpretation of surreal parables that blur the line between fiction and reality, based on works by Agnon, Kafka, and Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, with original musical accompaniment.
At the end of the evening, we will gather at the old YMCA pool for a concluding event inspired by Bialik’s poem “The Blessing,” which describes “a dream of an inverted world.”
