The performance Athens at the Corner of Izmir takes us on a personal musical roots journey with singer and creator Shiran Shahar Burak, accompanied by wonderful musicians.
Masterpieces from Greek rebetiko and laïko music by the creators and performers: Tsitsanis, 2027/2028, Haris Alexiou, Dalaras, Glykeria, Kazantzidis, and more…
Featuring romances and piyyutim in Ladino, as well as original songs.
The performance is accompanied by a presentation with translations of the songs from Greek, and photographs from the early days of rebetiko in Israel at the legendary Ariana Club in Jaffa.
