On the day of the annual Strawberry Festival—“Hagi-Tut”—four residents of a tiny kingdom gather together and are astonished to discover that one of them has secretly grown a plant that has nothing to do with strawberries. This act leads to a trial, which ends with a harsh sentence: the guilty party is banished from the kingdom.
After his departure, work in the strawberry fields falls into decline, and the queen, trying to safeguard the future of her small state, introduces more and more laws. However, the more rules there are, the harder life becomes for the subjects. In the end, they are forced to make a choice that will change their destinies forever.
Ultimately, the queen is left alone—amid the deserted kingdom and strawberry fields that wither day by day. But is it still possible to bring the residents home and breathe new life into this tiny kingdom?
