Animation.
One day, Kun’s parents return home with a new member of the family. The four-year-old boy’s joy suddenly turns into profound disappointment when his baby sister takes away every bit of attention available to him. Things begin to improve when a mysterious magical gateway suddenly opens before him, traveling through time and bringing him together with family members at different stages of their lives. From that moment onward, anything seems possible.
A spectacular animated film by Mamoru Hosoda, who wonderfully pours generous amounts of fantasy into the animated world. Variety magazine called Mirai an intimate and modest work—the most personal to date, they said—by one of the great masters of the anime world.
Japan, 2018, 98 minutes, Japanese, Hebrew and English subtitles
