
A concert by the Haifa Symphony Orchestra will take place in Herzliya; music by Mussorgsky, Shostakovich, and Kalinnikov will be performed.

The Haifa Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Amos Talmon, will perform music by Mussorgsky, Shostakovich, and Kalinnikov. The evening’s soloist is one of Israel’s leading pianists, Dorel Golan, who has performed in more than 40 countries worldwide. She will perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
The evening will open with the famous “Dawn over the Moskva River,” the overture to Modest Mussorgsky’s opera Khovanshchina. This will be followed by Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The program will conclude with a work that will surely be a discovery for many listeners: Vasily Kalinnikov’s Symphony No. 1, by a younger contemporary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Dorel Golan is a pianist well known to Israeli audiences who performs extensively abroad. A graduate of the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and a student of Professor Arie Vardi, Golan is a laureate of international piano competitions in Italy, Germany, and Israel. She has performed in the United States, Canada, China, Hong Kong, South Africa, and countries in South America and Europe. At the renowned Ruhr Piano Festival in Germany, Dorel Golan performed in a program featuring Martha Argerich, Daniel Barenboim, Maurizio Pollini, and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Her concerts have been recorded and broadcast by radio and television stations in Israel and abroad.
