Shu-Fen, a single mother, returns to Taipei with her two daughters after an absence of several years and plans to open a noodle stall in the bustling night market. The elder daughter, Yi-An, works at a shady convenience store and has a complicated relationship with her mother, while five-year-old Yi-Jing discovers a colorful world that becomes her playground. Shih-Ching Tsou’s film sensitively explores the relationship between mothers and daughters, the clash between traditions, and the struggle against fear within Taipei’s dazzling urban fabric.
