A 10-session LGBTQ+ parenting workshop will take place on Sundays, 11/10–13/12, at the Meteor Center in Herzliya. The sessions will focus on the path to parenthood.
The transition to parenthood is a significant life crossroads—and for LGBTQ+ families, it is a particularly complex process, combining emotional, biological, bureaucratic, and social considerations.
It is not merely a question of whether to bring a child into the world, but a profound emotional journey involving the body, one’s surroundings, self-image, one’s relationship (if there is one), our past in the homes where we grew up, and the future we imagine.
The workshop seeks to offer them a safe space for dialogue, belonging, practical tools, and a deeper understanding of the unique issues that arise on the path to parenthood:
Should I become a parent at all? What is the rightest path for me? What kind of parent do I want to be? And how do we cope with unique challenges such as society’s attitudes,
complex childhood experiences, the medical process, family models that may not have served us, and sometimes also the need to explain ourselves and defend ourselves to the “outside world.”
