Jo and Raisa, high-school graduates who have been best friends since elementary school, are about to embark on separate paths in life. As they celebrate their last night together, they encounter a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Kalay, filled with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing about in stories from their Filipino families.
Some of these characters will become friends, while others will become enemies. Joined by a well-meaning but clumsy “dog-man” named Rao and a small yet brave group of friends, Jo and Raisa must face the Manananggal, the creature threatening all the island’s inhabitants.
