An exhibition of solo work by Dr. Rami Klein offers an unconventional view - artistic, poetic and scientific - on marine life. The three sections of the exhibition reflect the meaning and importance of underwater photography for Dr. Klein. The photographs, some taken with a wide-angle lens and others with a macro lens, serve to expand his view of the marine environment and the biological structures found within it, as well as to reveal the strange and wonderful world of marine richness of coral reefs.
The project "Marine Nature Art" responds to the colorful and shaped beauty of marine creatures and was presented during the pandemic in Times Square, New York. Klein modeled motifs on the bodies of marine creatures from various biological groups and created from them a spectacular kaleidoscopic form, presented as a video installation. The exhibition "Points of Light in the Darkness | A Poetic View of Marine Nature" is based on the works from Klein's book "During the Days", which combines close-ups of sea creatures with short poems and scientific explanations. Biological phenomena observed in isolation from their immediate environment are infused into the poems with the emotional weight of dreams and fears.
The main exhibition "Living Together | Life in the Underwater World" invites visitors to explore the symbiotic relationships between creatures on coral reefs and their cooperation, which allows them to derive biological benefits. The exhibition also encourages reflection on the meaning of sustainability and its manifestations in marine nature.
The exhibition will also feature the video "World of Water" by underwater photographer Yubal Pinas, showing the diversity of creatures on the reefs and their unique behavior.
Dr. Rami Klein is a marine biologist, underwater photographer and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Marine Sciences in Mahmor, the author of numerous books on the underwater world. Yubal Pinas is a Haitian diving instructor and underwater photographer dedicated to marine conservation.
