The series will focus on the world of the symphony—the principal form of orchestral composition—and on the art of conducting it.
We will become acquainted with the characteristics of the symphony and its development over the years, and compare different conductors in terms of conducting styles, body language, and musical interpretation.
The lectures are accompanied by spectacular filmed demonstrations of performances conducted by leading conductors, past and present.
No prior musical knowledge or ability to read music is required.
