Hot Jazz from Abroad — The International Series

The finest jazz artists from the world’s greatest stages, reflecting the spirit of jazz.

From the early jazz of New Orleans to the contemporary jazz of New York.

4 performances, Saturday nights at 21:00

2.1.27 — From New Orleans to New York with Sugar Queen

Michael Varekamp & Alexander Beets Band & Sugar Queen (Amsterdam)

Sugar Queen’s hot and charismatic voice takes the audience on an emotional journey, with gospel and jazz touches that move you to tears.

Anyone who has experienced her onstage performance leaves with an unforgettable experience—rhythm, soul, and power that you will never forget!

3.4.27 — The Swing of the Gypsy Django

Swing Manouche Canarro Band (Budapest)

Blazing manouche, Hungarian virtuosity, and Django madness onstage.

Canarro is the virtuoso meeting point between manouche swing and Hungarian Gypsy music—a musical journey between Paris and Budapest that you will experience nowhere else.

This is not fusion for the sake of fusion, but a natural dialogue between two great European musical cultures.

12.6.27 — A Tribute to Buena Vista Social Club

Evelyn Dupuy & Daniel Lopez Montejo All Stars (Cuba)

Cuban singer Evelyn Dupuy, one of the voices most closely identified with the soul of deep Cuba, comes to Hot Jazz with a special tribute performance to Buena Vista Social Club.

She will be joined by singer Daniel Lopez Montejo, an artist with deep Cuban roots. Together, their voices will bring the harmony, warmth, and authenticity of traditional music to the stage.

They will be accompanied by a Cuban instrumental ensemble that gives the performance Havana’s full sound. Alongside them, Fernando Knopf will play electric bass; he is also the musical director and one of the leading figures in Israel’s Latin music scene.

An evening full of soul, rhythm, and longing—a true Cuban celebration that brings the spirit of Buena Vista back to the stage in all its power!

10.7.27 — The Great Divas of Jazz

Dawn Tyler Watson & Amikam Kimelman Quintet (Canada)

Dawn Tyler Watson pays tribute to the great mothers of jazz: Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Dinah Washington.

Her moving voice and combination of blues with jazz, soul, rock, and gospel create an unforgettable experience on stages across four continents.

An evening of live music, deep soul, and a voice impossible to forget!
