Jabal Ram - Tsoi Is Alive

Jabal Ram Mountain, 1,754 meters. One of the most beautiful and difficult-to-access peaks in Jordan. The mountain is usually climbed on foot and then descended by rope—canyoning. Before Passover, I plan to hire Jordanian guides and climb to the summit.

The trip requires three days. The first day will be spent crossing the border, traveling to Wadi Rum, and taking a short preparatory hike along the cliffs of Jabal Ishrin. On the second day, we will set out for the climb at 4:00 a.m. and return to camp after sunset. On the third day, if everyone still has enough energy, we will climb the neighboring peak, Jabal Khazali, and return to Israel in the evening.

All overnight stays will be in comfortable campsites with showers and toilets. The climb is suitable for people who are not afraid of heights. Under Jordanian regulations, one guide is required for every five participants.

The last time I was on Jabal Ram was 10 years ago. The hike included an overnight stay in the mountains. We crawled to the summit just before sunset. In addition to the breathtaking view, what I remember most was the graffiti on the rock: “Tsoi Is Alive.” My description of the hike to Jabal Ram is still available online:

The cost of the climb, provided there are 15–20 of us, is $770.
If we decide to climb the second peak, the trip will cost $870.
