Bach Goes to Cuba

After the astonishing success at the Latin American music festival, at the insistence of their fans, three masters are performing before an audience once again! They are united by a passion for jazz, the vibrant rhythms of Latin America, Bach’s music, Cuba’s Buena Vista, and the fierce energy of Latin jazz.

What happens when an outstanding Cuban musician begins a dialogue with Western classical music? In the show Bach Goes to Cuba, Cuban pianist Chuchito Valdés combines the dynamism of his Afro-Cuban heritage with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and beyond. The result is a musical journey in which the boundaries between classical music and Latin American rhythms disappear.

Joining him on stage is Omar Acosta, an outstanding Venezuelan flutist and composer, twice nominated for a Latin Grammy, creator of the celebrated work Solo de Pajarillo, and an international Yamaha representative. He is one of the best-known flutists of his generation in Venezuela and has also worked as a flutist and musical director of the National Ballet of Spain.

Together, these musicians create an extraordinarily rich sound palette: Bach’s melodies come alive in a new light, fiery Cuban rhythms harmonize with refined early music, and improvisation becomes the language connecting different eras, cultures, and musical traditions.
