The timeless ballet classic The Sleeping Beauty, performed by the Russian Ballet Theatre under the direction of Vyacheslav Gordeyev, is coming to Israel in the fall of 2026, much to the delight of all ballet lovers.

The ballet The Sleeping Beauty is considered an encyclopedia of classical dance. This magical story, based on Charles Perrault’s famous fairy tale, has remained on the stages of the world’s leading theaters for more than a century, ever since its historic and brilliant premiere, directed by Marius Petipa, at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1890.
Tchaikovsky’s musical genius, Marius Petipa’s brilliant choreography, and the dramatic libretto dealing with the power of true love and loyalty, and the eternal struggle between good and evil—all came together to create an unforgettable masterpiece. It is a work that captures our hearts and makes us want to enjoy it again and again, even when we know every plot twist and every note of the music.
The Russian Ballet Theatre presents The Sleeping Beauty, directed and spectacularly adapted by Vyacheslav Gordeyev, People’s Artist of the Soviet Union, based on the original libretto by Ivan Vsevolozhsky and Marius Petipa.
For this extraordinary production, Gordeyev was awarded the prestigious prize of the Association of Western European Promoters for “The Most Grandiose Production of 2000”!
Set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music and Marius Petipa’s magnificent choreography, this production combines the magic of classical Russian ballet with lavish scenery, costumes adorned with gold details, and virtuoso performances by dancers from the theater’s principal company.
A legend of Russian ballet, Vyacheslav Gordeyev—the superstar dancer and legendary premier danseur of the Bolshoi Theatre, who devoted his entire life to the art of ballet—has also demonstrated his virtuoso talent as a choreographer. Gordeyev the choreographer won the hearts and admiration of international ballet critics. In 1992, following the theater’s spectacular tour of Europe, he was awarded the prestigious title of “Choreographer of the Year,” followed by a special award from Maurice Béjart himself!
The Russian Ballet National Theatre has earned an honored status on the world ballet stage. Among ballet lovers in Russia and around the world, the company enjoys enormous and well-deserved popularity, standing alongside major and prestigious theaters such as the Bolshoi Theatre and the Mariinsky Theatre.
