The “Duet” Program for Parents: Finding Confidence and Calm in Early Childhood
How can we help parents and children cope with the current reality?
Parenting young children—from birth to age 6—is an exciting yet challenging journey, especially during this period. At Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s “Duet” Center, we combine academic research with emotional therapy and focus on the relationship between children and the significant adults around them.
What Will You Gain from the Program?
- Decoding children’s language: A deeper understanding of what underlies their behavior and how to respond to their genuine needs.
- A practical toolbox: Tools for dealing with boundaries, temperament, play, and creating cooperation in everyday life.
- Managing parental emotions: Identifying and managing the emotions that arise in us when facing challenging situations with our children.
- Preventing conflicts: Reducing power struggles before they even begin.
- Strengthening the relationship and sense of security: Improving your relationship with your children and finding your sources of support as parents.
Our Unique Model—Personal and Group Guidance
To ensure a meaningful process, the program offers much more than a regular parent group:
- Professional therapy: The group is led by professional therapists who have completed “Duet” training, with the support of professional research.
- Personal, close attention: The process includes individual introductory meetings—one-on-one—with the facilitators, in addition to the group meetings.
- A safe space: The group is limited to just 12 participants to maintain intimate and close discussion.
