A journey through the life and work of Yehonatan Gefen, one of the unique and influential voices in Israeli culture.
Dr. Avi Alon, a researcher and lecturer in poetry, will take us on a journey through the experiences that shaped Gefen’s sharp and witty writing—from his formative childhood in Nahalal to 1970s Tel Aviv.
We will examine why Gefen was considered the voice of Israel’s generation following the Yom Kippur War, and how his poetry continues to remind us of the magic of our lives here.
The lecture is accompanied by rare archival footage, interviews, and musical excerpts.
