Chaya, a young Israeli dancer, has started a new life in Berlin, complete with a successful career and a secret pregnancy. Back in Petah Tikva are her brother, Netzach, and her mother, Vicky, who has refused to speak to her for two years.
One day, Vicky surprises Chaya by arriving in Berlin to carry out the unusual will of her father—Chaya and Netzach’s grandfather. Before long, the family is swept into a whirlwind that exposes, with plenty of humor and pain, their own past and that of Germany’s Jews. Along the way, they also draw in a young German ticket inspector and the manager of a local museum at the site of an extermination camp.
