An exhibition exploring the everyday question, “What should I wear?”—a question that encompasses decisions about visibility, belonging, and nonverbal communication. Ashdod, as a city of many voices, is a distinct setting for these contexts. Its diverse communities carry with them distinct dress codes that merge and meet in the public sphere.
“Seamline” is part of a broader dialogue that the Museum of Philistine Culture is conducting with material culture. Fashion and visual-culture researchers, designers, stylists, costume designers, street photographers, and multidisciplinary artists were invited to help decipher the subject, illuminating different aspects of dress culture: those who dress, reflections on clothing, and the anthropology of dress.
