The local elections are approaching, and the powerful, veteran mayor, Moshe Schwartzman, is worried that no candidate dares run against him. Without an opponent, there is no campaign—and without a campaign, the donors’ wallets remain closed. Besides, people might start calling him a dictator, and democracy is his guiding light.
So what can be done? To create the appearance of a fair election, they must find a fictitious opponent—someone “whose family would be the only ones to vote for him, and even they would have second thoughts.”
When the cleaner enters the office and starts cleaning, it is clear to everyone that the perfect candidate has been found.
Her name is Ilana. And she is here to stay!
