Megiddo Trail – From Mishmar HaEmek Stream to Megiddo
Manasseh Hills, pine forests and Mediterranean woodland, spectacular scenic viewpoints, goat trails, and rocky slopes.
Starting point: Mishmar HaEmek Stream
End point: Megiddo gas station
Route description: From the mouth of Mishmar HaEmek Stream, we will walk along the slopes of the Manasseh Hills on comfortable dirt roads to the southern part of Midrakh Oz. From there, we will “sew” our way along rocky trails, ridges, and stream channels. We will climb to Yashiyahu Hill, from which we will look out over the Jezreel Valley. We will descend to the Keini Stream and its bubbling springs, and finish at the Megiddo gas station.
Those who insist on walking every meter of the Megiddo Trail will continue for another 4 kilometers along Route 66—the Valley Road—to Midrakh Oz, where we began walking, for a total of 12 kilometers.
