I Am a Guitar | Assaf Sings and Plays Benny Amdurosky
Assaf Amdurosky follows in the footsteps of his father, Benny Amdurosky, and his greatest songs.
To mark thirty years since Benny Amdurosky’s death, his son Assaf produced this beloved and successful show, in which he performs his father’s songs—by one of the most important singers and producers in Hebrew music—and shares the stories behind them.
The Dudaim, the Yarkon Bridge Trio, HaShlosharim, The Good, the Bad and the Girl, The Dudaim–Suburbs, as well as artists whom he chose to produce and bring to light:
The High Windows, the album Jerusalem of Gold, Meir Ariel, and more.
In January 1994, when Benny Amdurosky passed away, his son Assaf was at the beginning of his musical career.
After Teapack’s “Escot Mixture” and his intimate room, but before “New Love,” “My Dear,” “Quiet Engines,” and everything that followed.
In the 30 years since his father’s passing, Assaf has released eight solo albums, musically produced countless artists, composed for television, theater, and film, served as a judge on prime-time Israeli musical reality shows, and profoundly influenced the electronic music scene.
Like his father, Assaf has also produced acclaimed stage shows for Evyatar Banai, Marina Maximilian, Shuli Rand, Shlomit Aharon, Efrat Gosh, and others. In some of these shows he also performed himself, such as in the moving project “Singing the Dudaim,” in which he performed with great success alongside Yisrael Gurion, and in the successful, award-winning show “Singing the High Windows” with Shlomi Shaban and Yael Kraus.
