A concert by Asaf Amdursky featuring songs by Beni Amdursky and the stories behind their creation.
Asaf Revisits the Great Songs of His Father—Benny Amdurski
To mark the 30th anniversary of Benny Amdurski’s death, his son Asaf created a concert program that won the audience’s affection and enjoyed great success. Today, 32 years after Benny Amdurski’s passing, it once again brings his songs to the stage. Asaf will perform works by his father—one of the outstanding singers and producers of Israeli popular music—and share the stories behind their creation: “Ha-Duda’im,” the trio “Gesher Ha-Yarkon,” “Ha-Shlosharim,” “Ha-Tov, Ha-Ra Ve-ha-Na’ara,” “Ha-Duda’im–Parvarim,” as well as artists and projects that Benny Amdurski, as a producer, helped bring to the public: “Ha-Halonot Ha-Gvohim,” the album “Yerushalayim Shel Zahav,” Meir Ariel, and many others.
In January 1994, when Benny Amdurski passed away, his son Asaf was only beginning his musical journey.
“Ta’arovet Eskot” and “Heder Ha-Intimi Sheli” were already behind him, but “Ahava Hadasha,” “Yakirati,” “Mnoyim Shketim,” and everything that came later were still ahead.
During the 32 years since his father’s death, Asaf released eight solo albums, worked as a music producer for numerous artists, composed music for television, theater, and film, served as a judge on Israeli prime-time music reality shows, and had a significant influence on Israel’s electronic music scene.
Like his father, Asaf created, as a producer, stage programs that received high praise from critics and audiences—for Evyatar Banai, Marina Maximilian, Shuli Rand, Shlomit Aharon, Efrat Gosh, and others. In some projects, he also took the stage himself: in the moving program “Sharim Ha-Duda’im,” where he performed with great success alongside Israel Gurion, and in the widely acclaimed concert “Sharim Ha-Halonot Ha-Gvohim,” together with Shlomi Shaban and Yael Kraus.
An evening that will be a true celebration of Israeli song.
