Shmulik Budagov, an Israeli guitarist, composer, arranger, and music producer, is considered one of Israel’s greatest, most prominent, influential, and acclaimed guitarists, from the 1970s to the present day.

Budagov’s solo performance is essentially a musical autobiography on stage. The veteran guitarist’s first solo show is a one-of-a-kind musical cabaret, offering a glimpse into the little stories behind the major hits that shaped Israel’s local soundtrack.

Budagov has participated in recordings of hundreds of songs by numerous artists and has been present at virtually every crossroads in Israel’s musical history. His guitar solos became milestones in Israeli music. At just 16, he was already a member of the band the Churchills, accompanied Arik Einstein, and recorded iconic guitar solos for songs such as “Mother Earth” and “It Could Be That It’s Ending.”

He was a member of the band Sheshet alongside Shem-Tov Levi, Yehudit Ravitz, and Adi Renert. Their only album is still considered groundbreaking in Israeli rock. Later, he joined the legendary band Brosh, one of the most important groups in Israeli rock, which accompanied and recorded with artists including Ariel Zilber, Yigal Bashan, Tzvika Pick, and others, and served as the house band on the legendary television program Zehu Ze!.

Budagov has collaborated with many artists, including Arik Einstein, Shem-Tov Levi, Yehudit Ravitz, Ariel Zilber, Mati Caspi, Riki Gal, Nurit Galron, Shlomo Artzi, Zohar Argov, Shimi Tavori, Rami Kleinstein, Meir Banai, Yossi Banai, Sharon Lipschitz, and the band the Jews. He produced, arranged, and played on the band’s successful debut album, Separate Reality, as well as on countless other albums.

The performance brings guitar playing back to center stage through the key moments of Budagov’s life. Together with an outstanding ensemble of musicians and singers, and in renewed collaboration with Adi Renert on keyboards, Budagov combines stories behind the songs and the unforgettable solos that have accompanied the soundtrack of Israeli music and rock from the 1970s to the present day.
