Megiddo Trail – from Midrakh Oz to Gahar Stream!
Starting point: The entrance to Moshav Midrakh Oz
End point: Gahar Stream parking area
Route description: From Midrakh Oz, we will ascend along a trail toward the Mishmar HaEmek Hills. The landscapes of the Jezreel Valley will unfold before us. We will pass near Ashmar Hill—an extinct volcano—and ascend to a hill with a memorial to the defenders of Mishmar HaEmek in the 1948 battles.
We will continue to the Kibbutzim Memorial—a hill overlooking Lower Carmel, with a relatively new monument commemorating kibbutz members who fell over the generations in Israel.
We will enter the Menashe Forests and walk toward Jo'ara—the Palmach training base, the elite force of the state-in-the-making. We will descend to the enchanting, shaded Gahar Stream. We will walk in the shade of enormous pine trees covered with climbing plants. Reclaimed water flows in the stream throughout the year.
We will finish at the Gahar Stream parking area.
