Descriptiontranslated from Hebrew (original)

Lift your heads to the sky and discover the wonderful world of vultures and birds of prey in the Negev! 🦅

The vulture is much more than an impressive bird soaring above the desert cliffs. It plays an important role in the ecological system and serves as “nature’s sanitation worker”: it feeds on carrion, thereby helping preserve the environment and reduce the spread of disease.

But vultures in Israel are endangered, and various threats—foremost among them poisoning—continue to endanger their population. Protecting vultures requires ongoing monitoring, research, protection, and, above all, the prevention of poisoning.

On Saturday, 24.10, we invite you to Ein Avdat National Park for a day dedicated entirely to vultures, nature, and conservation.

Throughout the day, you can move between stations and activities for the whole family:

Discover the world of birds of prey: Guided activities, games, and surprises that will introduce you up close to the birds of prey living in the Negev—and, of course, to the desert king of the skies, the vulture.

Look to the skies: Telescope observation stations together with birders from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. We will learn to identify birds of prey and try to locate them as they soar above the cliffs.

Meet the “Vulture Patrol”: Meet the volunteers working in the field to locate sites that could endanger and poison vultures. Hear about their important work, the challenges they face, and how you can help save the vultures.

Create, play, and learn: Creative stations and family games connecting enjoyment, curiosity, and nature conservation.

The vulture needs us—and we need it.

Come get acquainted, be inspired, learn, and understand how each and every one of us can be part of the effort to protect the vultures in the Negev skies.

When: Saturday, 24.10. Activity hours: 10:00–16:00.
