A guided tour of three exhibitions on the subject of boycott and social exclusion at the Weizmann 20 complex, Ramat HaSharon. The tour will be led by curators Guy Morg and Keren Shpilcher.
Three new exhibitions at 20 Weizmann Complex in Ramat Hasharon look bullying straight in the eye.
Forty-five artists revisit memories of loneliness and rejection, alongside two female artists presenting the bullying they themselves experienced in childhood.
Through painting, photography, video, installation, performance, sound, and comics, the exhibitions present the experiences of the child left outside the group,
alongside the perspectives of those who bully, those who join in, and those who witness and remain silent.
“Avia’s Summer” – a group exhibition by 45 artists. The exhibition’s title is taken from Gila Almagor’s autobiographical book
and from the memorable birthday scene in which ten-year-old Avia waits for the children she invited, but none of them arrives.
The works in the exhibition explore shame, loneliness, rejection, and the longing to belong.
Special thanks to Ms. Gila Almagor for allowing the use of the name “Avia’s Summer.”
“Long Nights, Lost Dreams” – a solo exhibition by Ayala Netzer at The Post Gallery. In her works, Netzer returns to childhood experiences of loneliness, social rejection, and a sense of invisibility,
and to art as a place of solace and as an opportunity to create something new out of pain.
“Sixth Grade” – a comics exhibition by Aya Tal Shir at the outdoor gallery. Aya returns to an event from her childhood in which her best friend
cut off contact with her, after which her other friends distanced themselves from her.
The tour and guided visit will be led by the curators Guy and Keren, who will guide together or separately at each meeting.
The tour will take place with a minimum number of participants.
Cost: 35 NIS with advance registration
