Summary

A 3-hour ceramics workshop in an intimate studio, 37 Yishpa, Mevaseret Zion. Participants try pinching, slab rolling, and working on the pottery wheel.

Descriptiontranslated from Hebrew (original)

In the workshop, we will create vessels or small sculptures using several techniques.

The techniques we will use:

  • Pinching – Using our fingers to make pinches, we can create small vessels or figurines from hollow forms.
  • Replicating an existing vessel using slab rolling – We will roll out slabs of clay and place them inside existing molds, create textures using lace napkins or stamps, and produce a similar yet uniquely our own vessel.
  • Pottery wheel – We will try working on the wheel with close guidance from the instructor. We will try, get dirty, things will become crooked, and in the end we will succeed. We will make a small vessel: a bowl or a cup.

We will paint the vessels with underglazes or Wonder paints.

The workshop lasts 3 hours.

Please note: The vessels must undergo a complete drying process, glazing (coating with transparent glaze), and two firings in the kiln. The vessels remain at the studio for two to three weeks after the workshop in order to achieve a perfect result.

The finished works can be sent to you for an additional fee of 50 NIS.

The finished vessels are suitable for hot drinks, dishwashers, and microwaves!
