A practical session on Israeli credit, loans and mortgages for Olim. The date and venue are not provided.
When you make Aliyah, your Israeli credit file starts from scratch. No matter
how long or how strong your credit history was abroad, it doesn’t automatically
follow you to Israel.
That can mean higher borrowing costs at exactly the time when you may be dealing
with some of the biggest financial decisions of your new life in Israel.
This will be a practical, interactive session, with plenty of room to ask
questions about your own situation. We’ll explain how credit in Israel actually
works, with no prior knowledge of the Israeli financial system required. We’ll
cover:
Who lends money in Israel and what borrowing really costs
How the Bank of Israel’s national credit database works
What your credit history means for you as a new Oleh
Mortgage rules and considerations relevant to Olim
What to do during your first 12 months in Israel
What social credit is and how it differs from traditional lending
We’ll also introduce Ogen, a non-profit organization that has been providing
interest-free and affordable credit in Israel since 1990.
