Who Believes in What in Jerusalem? For Children and Adults.

On Saturday evening, October 3, the final day of the autumn vacation, 15:30–19:00 — the second tour in the “Jerusalem for Children” series, for children aged 10+ and their parents.

We’ll talk about the three religions, superstitions, and traditions, and follow a new route—not only to the Western Wall, but also through the Christian and Muslim Quarters!

We’ll start at the Jaffa Gate and:

• discuss why Christianity is considered almost pagan by Muslims and Jews;
• see Santa’s house, which is decorated just as beautifully in summer as in winter;
• enter the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and climb onto its roof, where Ethiopian monks live;
• try to understand the sacred books of the three religions—I’ll bring them with me!

After a lunch break in the Christian Quarter—falafel, pizza, or shawarma—we’ll continue to the Muslim Quarter (it’s safe!), learn the five pillars of Islam by breaking them down into parts, and learn to understand Hajj graffiti.

In the Jewish Quarter, we will:

• discuss why the buildings there are so new;
• view the Western Wall from the most beautiful lookout point;
• examine in detail—I’ll show maps—what the Temple Mount looked like and find out whether there could be treasures inside it;
• leave pre-prepared notes, because writing at the Western Wall is not permitted on Shabbat.

The route is approximately 6 kilometers and will proceed at an unhurried pace.

Group size: no more than 25 people
Children’s age: 10–16, if the teenagers are willing to walk

Cost: 110 shekels per adult, 90 shekels per child. Any third child in the same family attends free of charge.

If your child is interested in history, knows who Solomon was, has heard at least something about King Herod, and enjoys walking, you are welcome. However, I do not recommend this tour as their first experience of a tour with me.
