The Israel Land Authority and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel’s “Going Out into the Open” Festival invite you to a tour of the Canals Park!

Join us for a hopeful tour showing how, with proper planning and a great deal of determination, people can also repair the damage they have caused.

The drainage of the Hula Marsh was made possible by digging two deep canals that joined near the Hula Nature Reserve and continued as a single canal to the Pkak Bridge, which was opened to allow the water to flow into the Sea of Galilee.

In recent years, the Kinneret Drainage Authority decided to give this canal the form of a real stream: gentler, shallower banks, a winding course, and islands in the water. This attracts many animals, plants, and visitors. In this area, we will tour and learn about the rehabilitation efforts. The charming route will show us nature’s ability to recover when it is simply given the opportunity—and all we have left to do is truly enjoy it.
