About the Activity
Join us for a surprising and fascinating hike between the Sorek Stream and the Palmachim sands, where we will explore the magic of this unique environment.
We will begin the hike at the Paratroopers’ Grove and discover the reason behind its distinctive name.
We will walk along the Sorek Stream, examine the unique flora and fauna on the streambanks, look for wild-boar burrows, and learn about the important efforts to restore the stream’s water.
During the hike, we will observe the special meeting point between the stream and the sands and discover the area’s diverse wildlife: softshell turtles, visiting birds, and spectacular seasonal blossoms.
We will learn why the special “Turtle Island” was established and what role it plays in the reserve.
From there, we will continue into the golden dunes among native vegetation and observe the cormorant colony—the special birds that come to visit from distant lands.
We will learn about their way of life, what they eat, and what makes them unique, and see their roosting area.
Join us for a magical experience in which you will discover the secret of the meeting between water and sand, birds and a wide variety of animals.
