Beginner II Yiddish (Tuesday)
This is a live, online course held weekly on Zoom for students who have completed Beginner I Yiddish. The class covers listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills in Yiddish, focusing on grammar topics like plural nouns and the imperative, as well as cultural content such as High Holiday practices. Sessions are conducted in Yiddish and English with a cap of 15 students.

Who should take this course?
This course is appropriate for those who have completed Beginner I Yiddish or equivalent coursework.
What topics will this class cover?
Building on the foundations acquired in Beginner I Yiddish, students will continue to develop their listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills in Yiddish. This semester will cover Unit II (Chapters 4-7) of In eynem.
New communication goals include giving commands and advice, talking about studies and professions, describing High Holiday practices, discussing presence and absence, and possession. New grammar topics will address plural nouns, the diminutive, the imperative, verbs with separable prefixes, negative statements, direct objects, basic form of the adjective, possessive adjectives, and an introduction to the past tense.
We will also discuss songs, poems, stories, and proverbs, many of which will focus on the High Holidays.
