When I'm Sixty-Four - A Tribute to the Album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

The band SHALOSH (Three) hosts saxophonist Catalin Milea.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by The Beatles, released in 1967. The album is considered by many critics and musicologists to be one of the most influential and significant albums in the history of popular music. It has even been ranked first on the list of the 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. The album is unique in that it functions as a concept album where The Beatles pose as the fictional Sgt. Pepper's orchestra. It was recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios and showcases significant breakthroughs in recording techniques, music production (managed by George Martin), and album cover design, which allowed them to move away from the old "Beatlemania" image. The album cover is one of the most famous in the world, featuring the band members in colorful military uniforms surrounded by over 60 collages of historical figures, artists, and celebrities. The album's 13 songs combine psychedelic rock, traditional Indian music, pop, and music hall, including "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "She's Leaving Home," "With a Little Help from My Friends," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "When I'm Sixty-Four," "Lovely Rita," "A Day in the Life," and more.

Shalosh is an Israeli instrumental band that, within a decade of activity, has become one of the most successful and active piano trios in the world. They have performed hundreds of shows on major stages globally and have a large following worldwide. Their instrumental music is immediate, catchy, strong, yet sophisticated and refined. It contains complex and cyclic melodies of pause and progress and endless growth on one side, while being a joint creation of the band members: pianist Gadi Stern, bassist David Michaeli, and drummer Matan Assayag. The band has released six albums on prestigious labels such as ACT, Tales of Utopia, Contemplate Records, Jazz Family, Bauer Studios, and frequently performs at the largest festivals in Europe and Israel, both as a trio and with leading symphonic orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic. They engage in various collaborations with different artists, have millions of plays across various networks, and receive praise from the press both locally and internationally, including Times, The Guardian, and Rolling Stone. In 2021, SHALOSH was selected as Band of the Year by Deutscher Jazz Preis.
