Avraham Halfi was one of the greatest Israeli theater actors and poets. On stage, he was a charismatic actor, a virtuoso, a comedian who charmed the audience with talent, lightheartedness, and a zest for life. Offstage, he was a quiet and modest person, shy, almost hiding away, lonely, with a tortured poet's soul. His composed songs are considered some of the most beautiful in Hebrew music. However, Halfi refused to identify with his songs, preferring to define himself solely as an actor.
In 1988, Arik Einstein released an album entirely of Avraham Halfi's songs. Without Arik Einstein, Halfi's internal world, expressed in his songs, would have remained hidden among the pages, disappearing from Hebrew culture.
