AЯBA is a new world premiere creation by the Israeli Flamenco Company, featuring four dancers who come together on stage and invite the audience to observe their work processes. The performance includes a bricolage of body, dance, texts, thoughts, and archives that transform into traditional flamenco materials in a clash of flavors and worlds.
AЯBA - A New Creation for the Israeli Flamenco Dance Company
Following the successful collaboration with Michal Nathan in the creation of THISISPAIN, contemporary creator Hillel Kogan continues his adventures in flamenco art, commissioned by the Israeli Flamenco Dance Company. Four dancers, the pillars of the company, meet on stage and invite the audience to observe the birth of a dance. The work processes are exposed to the public: artist-workers creating bricolage from whatever is at hand: body, dance, texts, thoughts, childhood images, private and shared archives, sounds, songs, and games. All these serve them as materials, which they cast into traditional flamenco forms, culminating in a clash of flavors and worlds. The passion, drama, sanctity, purity, and total dedication to precision demanded by an art that is fanatical in its demands mix instantly with everyday life, randomness, absurdity, irony, chaos, with permission to challenge, to fake. In freedom.
